Microsoft seems to have accelerated development for the Xbox Mobile Store. A website seen by gamers highlights Microsoft’s own mobile game store. The store will be a competitor to the likes of Google Play Store and App Store.
The countdown for Xbox Mobile Store has begun
Xbox President Sarah Bond first announced plans for the Xbox Mobile Store in May and said it would launch in July. As the end of the month approached without an official launch, users began to wonder if the store had been delayed.
Xbox Insiders noticed that the Xbox Mobile Store web page was now live. The page thanks Insiders for signing up and says that access to the store will be available soon.
The Xbox Mobile Store will be accessible via web browsers as an alternative to the app stores run by Apple and Google. Microsoft will also try to avoid platform fees.
Among the games approved for the store are the productions of Microsoft’s subsidiaries King and Mojang. In this context, first party games such as Candy Crush and Minecraft will be available on the store. Games from third-party developers will be added after launch.
It seems likely that Microsoft will launch the Mobile Store very soon. While the launch will probably take place in the next few days, it’s worth noting that early access for Insiders has already started.
